They FIA have to stick by their guns with this one. If they don't it will reflect badly on their race stewarts and the FIA. It'll look like the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.

It is a joke that they are even allowing an appeal.

Not sure if the drivers should also be penalized for a constructor fault.

Huge constructor points loss and huge fine would be more appropiate

Big fine , Points loss . Are you lot joking? What happened to Ferrari when Kimi was allowed to drive around with a flailing exhaust pipe which fell off? Thats right nothing. This is just a knee jerk reaction to a set of circumstances.

The main problem was that Renault KNEW the wheel wasn't on and they still let the driver go out and failed to tell him.

Ferrari did not know the exhaust was going to come to bits. Similarly Braawn didn't know that a bolt was going to fail on their car.

Why are so many posters struggling with this incredibably simple concept?

We do understand but I for 1 would rather see 20 cars on the grid than 18, as would most fans. so a different punishment (even if it is equally as harsh) should be thought of. In my opinion.

By previous outcomes for similar events (excluding ferrari getting off scot free)

Renault will be fined somewhere between 25,000 to 50,000 euros, and the race ban will stand but be suspended for 12 months.

Hannah - I wasn't meaning you. It was more aimed at the folk who keep spouting rubbish about Ferrari. Again, McLaren & Williams have got off with their fair share of stuff also. Let the past be in the past where it belongs. But I digress.

You are one of the few who can actually understand why Renault have been suspended.

With a bit of luck Briatore might implode. :)

(PS - you've missed a Hamilton story :p)
