Was I imagining things when I read that there was going to be an enquiry into the Brawn incident? Coz I haven't heard anything about it since. :?

50k and a race ban so are SO different!!!
£50 000 is pretty much peanuts to Renault while a ban would have hurt them, but then again I'm just happy that the team will beable to race this weekend! In the end the right(ish) decision was made.
Is Grosjean ready to take the seat though?

A 50K fine is still an unfair punishment against one team, and is just another example of stewards and FIA throwing their weight around rather than any serious attempt to improve track safety.

FIA can't even rule properly on safety. That's their job and they give a hand slap for total disreguard of safety and the rules. Glad to see them race but now it's ok to run around with a loose or missing wheel if you need to. It will only cost you 50g.

It's the wrong decision.

The ban should have stood, as the car could have caused a very serious accident. What sort of example does this set for teams in the future? send a dangerous car out on track, get a ban as a result and get it overturned at a later date?

Can't say I'm surprised. Yet again the FIA backs down and makes it's own race steward look silly. This could actually set a dangerous precident. If teams let a car out of the pits in an unsafe condition and the said car then falls to bits, what's to stop that team from saying "You let Renault off so why not us?". The FIA would not have a leg to stand on. In fact was it the FIA or a wet piece of lettuce the hearing was in front of? Sends out a pretty bad message about car/race safety. The original penalty was a stern warning to the other teams but a fine is not a problem for any of the teams.

Racing is dangerous people...thats what makes it so exciting(or should i say used to)...so what if the wheel came off and killed somebody....sh%t happens....motorsport always was and always will be dangerous...the people at the track are told that they are there at their own risk and the people competing know the score...if they can't accept that then they should stay at home...might as well go race radio controlled cars with everyone watching on tv at home...stop making such a big deal out of this....if they were banned for this it would have been a disgrace to the sport, that is why it was overturned......

Try telling John Surtees "sh%t happens". I'm sure the guy would not quite see your point. So you would have been happy to see the wayward wheel injure or kill someone?

Yes, racing is dangerous. But you hope that the additional risks teams take are not the reason for an accident. You expect ALL teams to pull over once a wheel is off the car. And you expect a team to tell at LEAST their driver that there is a problem. They did neither. So they made the track more dangerous for all and did not care.
