More likely that Vettel had no significant other options with Ferrari being Alonso/Massa, McLaren being Hamilton/Rosberg and Brawn being left behind.

F1 » Red Bull Racing extends Vettel contract to 2011

Red Bull Racing has revealed that it has tied down Sebastian Vettel - inarguably one of F1's hottest properties - until at least the end of 2011.

I wonder how Red Bull will fare if Adrian Newy retires at the end of the year as rumoured? Remains to be seen if this is a good or bad move by Vettel. Hopefully it is a good move. :)

Always good to have something to fall back on. But, it's only a contract, just like the one Bourdais had. I'm sure there will be bail-out clauses on both sides, so if something better comes along, or RBR go off the boil...

By the end of 2011 Ferrari will be looking to ditch FA and pick up Vettel. Like Bonzo said not much he can do at this time.

Ferrari are mad not to get Vettel if not next year by 2011. Him and Massa would be a good pairing. I can see Alonso going to Ferrari and the McLaren situation being repeated. Can't see Alonso being happy being a No. 2 driver but similarly I can't see Massa playing second fiddle either.

@andrewm- Please, Alonso would wipe the floor with Massa. Massa isn't as good as Hamilton after all.

I hope Vettel doesn't go to Ferrari, I like him too much to see him go to them.

Vettel is the kind of driver that can motivate a team so that they can work towards being a top team.

Hamilton better than Massa. Ha Ha Ha. A WDC doesn't always mean you're the best driver. Massa had more wins, led for more laps, and was generally faster over a race but was let down by Ferrari but their ability to mess up.

I think people regard Red Bull as a novelty team and think Vettels future championship lies with a more established team.I think Seb should stay put and build this team around him much like a certain other German did at Benneton.

I really was hoping Ferrari would make Sebastian Vettel an offer.
