I also believe that in the last few months, few years, we have been working for stability but we never cared about the public, because in the end we never ever had a serious discussion to improve the racing. I think now is the time to sit together in FOTA to try and improve the racing. We need more energy, we need more fun, we need to change a lot.

Flav you never got the F1 stability right so I can't see how you are going to repair your self confessed ignorance towards F1 fan needs.

Todt will put you in your place - just a team principal - and will put F1 back to where it should be without FOTA and your selfish recommendations thank you.

Piquet is just unlucky with his choice of team he raced for, but as Heikki left for MaClaren he got his seat!
Piquet did get a podium last year, and this year with all the rule changes there are different teams heading the championship this season!
It is not piquets fault if his car is not the fasted or it my not suit him!
He is proven in GP2 that he has what it takes and gave Hamilton a hard time!
Look at Hamilton this season he has struggled until late, goes to show you do need a good car to do well in this sport!
Shame really, but i do hope that Piquet does get a drive with a team that has a car that suits him!
As for first comment on this page about Todt, what a load BS!

Anyone remember 2 years ago when Alonso was with McLaren, Flavio said Ron did not know how to manage his drivers, and if Flavio had a 2-time wdc in his team he would be the clear number 1? And anyone remember how he said Ron did not know how to manage latin american drivers like Senna and Montoya in his team but he himself was much better at managing them?

..anyone?

yeah.

@ferret:

Piquet did not get his seat because Kovalainen left. Piquet was already a test driver bragging he was better than Fisichella, and Piquet Sr kept lobbying Flavio to replace Fisichella with his son. So Piquet was not unlucky, he was arrogant enough to believe he was better than Fisichella. Kovalainen at one interview stated he would rather work with Fisichella as his teammate than Piquet (although he later said it was just a joke).

When Alonso became available, Piquet was already given the go-ahead for the 2nd race seat. So Kovalainen was let go. Kovy, Piquet, Trulli, Alonso, Webber are all managed by Flavio's company, but apart from Alonso and Webber, the others got the short end.

Well i know what you are saying and you are right, but unfortunately there not enough characters in these comments to put a full story on what you can say!
And yes Trulli, Fisi, Webber and so a re good drivers!
But Piquet being a test driver and getting the seat the team would have known if he was up for the job as it was the team who gave it to him in the first place!
If they had their doubts then why leave it this long to get rid of Piquet!
Ok He has a father who is 3 times world champ, Damon hill's father was champ aswell, it doesn't always mean like father like son!
Piquet has what it takes to be in F1, but everyone wants a good car but that is not always the case!
:roll

@rob

Grosjean certainly did look quick in the Renault. He looked like he was driving with his fingertips, which is a confident style for a new lad.

Apparently his mechanics were gutted he made Q2 as they have spent the last couple of seasons knocking off early and heading into the motorhome for a cup of tea and a bacon sandwich...

yes, grosjean (big john?) drove as well as alonso today. he had no testing, jut like badoer and alguesuari, yet look at how he went! it seems to be the in thing, to knock flavio, but dont forget, he was the mastermind behind turning the team into a wdc team. i reckon he knows what he is doing, and grosjeans performance, relative to alonso, far exceeded the "experienced" piquet.

Piquet needs a better manager and team as does alonso. Renault isn't what it once was, that started last year. Piquet can't be blamed for his lack of good testing days given to him, nor his lack of newer parts given to Alonso instead. Grosjean has equality to Alonso at this race that's why he was as fast as he was. Give Piquet another car that actually runs fast and he'll be up there.
