they said hamilton couldn't develop a car... the cars got quicker!

they said hamilton wasn't a good driver... he gave a two time world champ such a run for his money that he quit the team and won the WDC in only his SECOND full year!

they said he was arrogant... not seen any arrogance this year, a lot of humility in fact!

they said he was only in the team because he was ron dennis' protege... ron has left the f1 team and after one of the worst starts to a season for mclaren hamilton is still there, always being supportive to the team (unlike kubica for example) and the team are progressing.

they (the sad forum thread trolls) will always find something to criticise hamilton about.

I predict Kovalainen will slow the field to let Hamilton shoot off with his lower fuel and get out in front again after the first round of pit stops

1. Hamilton McLaren-Mercedes 653.0
2. Kovalainen McLaren-Mercedes 655.0
3. Barrichello Brawn-Mercedes 662.5
4. Vettel Red Bull-Renault 654.0
5. Button Brawn-Mercedes 661.5
6. Raikkonen Ferrari 661.5
7. Rosberg Williams-Toyota 665.0
8. Alonso Renault 656.5
9. Webber Red Bull-Renault 664.5

Yep...Kovalainen will slow the rest of the field at the start. Hamilton is actually starting to be a bit likable. Unlike Alonso. Is it me, or does Alonso always seem like a bitter old man?

Well said 2pac. I have liked Hamilton since I first saw him in F3 Euro and into GP2. It was after his GP2 race at Silverstone in 2006(?) that I really started paying attention.

In his first couple of years he did say and do a few dumb things. But that's to expected when you are thrust into limelight like he was in a front running team and when your not so competent father is your manager.

However this year he has matured and learned a lot IMO. He has proved he would not desert his team, he has proved he can develop a car and lead a team, and he has proved that he can be very humble as he was at the start of year...

...and he has proved when you given him half decent car he will grab the opportunity with both hands.

Basically Hamilton has done very little wrong this year, certainly nothing that would cause someone to dislike him.

Awesome job by him, Kovi and the team.

I would say one low light may have been his attitude during the German Grand Prix. However you can no longer thrash a car to death safe in the knowledge you will get a brand new in at the next race. With the current engine and gear box rules I could see where he was coming from.
