FFS it is NOT Lotus!!!

It is a cheap imitation that has bought the rights to use the name. If the FIA had any scrupples they would insist that the team changes its name to protect the heritage of the original Lotus team. This team will only damage the historic reputation of Lotus. They are only using the name to attract idiotic sponsors who are easily fooled by the name and will not last more than 2 years. Sadly the media and so called experts will class this team as Lotus even when it isn't really Lotus. Sad really.

What heritage?? it's ownership and proprietory right to use the name.That's what you call 'Branding' if I may illustrate.Kit Kat for example was American being bought over by the Swiss.Nobody made any noise out of it.
You dont have to be over sentimental over the issue.You dont have to be so sad or sadder than the ones who sold the Brand.
Whether they will more than 2 years, time will tell.

How can anyone question the racing heritage of Lotus? You clearly don't know what Lotus was.

You cannot compare a choclate bar to a racing team. So what if kitkat has been bought by a Swiss company - still tastes the same before and after the sale.

The success and innovation of Lotus made them a groundbreaking team. This reputation will be damaged by this team being incorrectly allowed to use the Lotus name. If this team is successful in F1 then that is great and the Lotus name is undamaged but I fear and strongly suspect that this team will pull down the great name that is Lotus. A name which is as much F1 as Ferrari.

I have nothing against new teams entering - it is good for F1. But to use the name of an incredibally successful and iconic F1 team for a new half baked constructor is just sacrolidge!

He who stinks of sulphur should have stepped in to protect the name of Lotus, Colin Chapman and the other innovative engineers and classic drivers who worked for Lotus.

@andrewm

i have to say. good on you, sir. lotus is a symbol of a team that started from the bottom and made their way to the top, cementing their legacy. 40 years of dedication, blood, sweat and tears went into the team and now the name is being used to pull sponsors. outrageous in my opinion :-o
