I say give the kid a break.

It's easy to say he should have stood his ground, but he's a young lad looking to keep his drive, and he was told to do it by his team.

His team pay him to do whatever they say remember !!!

The FIA are also to blame for this all blowing up. They knew last year that this happened and did nothing !

They should have investigated it there and then.

F1 » EXCLUSIVE Ban Piquet for life, Warwick tells FIA

The FIA should ban Nelsinho Piquet for firstly complying with the instruction to cause a deliberate crash and then publicly pinning the blame on his team, argues former F1 star Derek Warwick.

Warwick says the FIA should ban NP for life, the FIA not only didn't do that, but it gave him immunity without him asking for it.

I think the FIA should grant a blanket immunity to everyone ever involved in F1 - on the condition they wrote a book about it! Come on Derek, spill some beans - and not the one about Senna not wanting you at Lotus, or Renault reneging on it's contract with Lauda.

What is it with naff ex British F1 drivers coming out with sound-bites (I hate that term) that are complete cobblers in the last few days.

Blundells pro Piquet rant takes the biscuit though.

Glad Blundell isn't a pundit for the BBC, his chav speak pigeon English was cringworthy, my girlfriend always asked who's that thug, was he an F1 driver ? :p

Piquet deserves a medal, not condemnation. He has given us the head of Flabbio and tody we may even be in with a shout of Mr Alonso getting properly nailed for cheating.

Alonso is long overdue and he is caught like a rat in a trap with this one, there is just now way he was an innocent bystander while this was going one.

... Or does nobody bother listening to the radio transmissions ? Whenever we get FA and Renault, he is obviously highly integrated into the race strategy decisions and there is absolutely no chance he would have not questioned such strange tactics, had he not known.

Taxi for Mr Alonso !

@ Colin Clegg - The kid has his break when he was given his drive in F1 which is the the premeir racing claass in the world, if you can't cut the mustard there's no need to endanger lifes just to keep your drive. I don't but this young lad lark, remember Lewis Hamilton is the same age and has shown to be mature despite his wild moments.

I still want to know who paid Warwick to not qualify for every GP of the 1981 season (OK he qualified once by accident...)
