Derek Warwick is just a bitter ex-racer who never got the opportunity Jenson now has.

Assuming Jenson wins it (and I hope he does) he deserves it for putting 7 faultless performances in in the first 7 races.

Titles are won over a season but breaking the back of it early on is the best way (ask Nigel Mansell!)

F1 » Warwick: Jenson Button heading for a hollow victory

Should he lift the 2009 F1 crown, it will be a hollow triumph for Brawn GP star Jenson Button, suggests Derek Warwick - unless he starts beating team-mate Rubens Barrichello again.

whatever one thinks of warwick, he is right about it being a hollow victory. this was due to the head start given to him by the fia, with the double diffuser. if all had started equal, i doubt that button would have even been in the top eight.

I think so of you guys should be shamed of yourselves. Derrick Warwick was an F1 driver for years. He lost his brother to the sport. He's done stuff most of you if not all of you could not even dream of. Disagree with him by all means but show some respect. Those that insult him would not have the front to say it to his face let alone do some of the stuff he did. Like roll an F1 and run yes run and jump into his spare for the restart. I do think that however that if Jenson wins the F1 crown it he will have been more than worthy. You need the best car and know it. He did and Rubs just followed. Thats how you win rcaes and Champs.

@ Richard
This stupid comment that you use on a regular basis about button being given i head start from the Fia,
there was nothing wrong with the diffuser at the start of the season, it has been ruled legal, now get over it !!

@ Richard

You really do talk some rubbish. Jenson was outstanding the first half of the season, lost his form for a bit but still maintained his lead in the championship as none of the following pack could take advantage of the situation and get big points on the board to catch him up! Hopefully he's back on it now and will see out the season and claim a very well deserved first drivers title in F1.
And why has Derek Warwick suddenly started spouting all this drivel? It's bad enough when ex-champions start gobbing off, but an also-ran? Don't get me wrong, I supported Warwick, Brundle, Palmer et al back in the day, but none of them were much cop now, were they?
