Andrew, I must be suffering from lack of sleep because your post makes no sense to me. You say "there's always an excuse" and "they never put their hands up and say we weren't good enough". Now as I read the article, Hamilton is saying they finished third because they just weren't good enough today and Toyota were better. Isn't that what you wanted to hear? What's the excuse you think they are making?

Something I have noticed is that whenever Hammy looses a place or isn't going to get the result him or his team thought he was going to get, there is always an excuse of some sort. Whay can't him or the team just hold their hands up and say "we wernt good enough today". Always someone or something else's fault. Strange that....

Interesting that KR with KERS couldn't keep up with LH without KERS, but with the weight of KERS, in the final dash to the flag. Is this the comparative performance of Ferrari vs Mclaren at the moment?

Erm...coz the KERS did have a problem, it did cost them some time and it did quite possibly cost them 2nd.

Also Hamilton and the team spent the whole weekend emphasizing how shocked they were that they had pace at the track that they thought would not suit their car, so 3rd was WAY more then they ever expected.

Also I think you'll find that after Monza, Hamilton did hold his hands up and say 'I'm sorry, I made a mistake'. Therefore your theory kinda falls down! :p

Hannah - you missed my theory by a few miles. I'm not talking about when Lulu binned it (which was hilarious) or when the car is in a smash but when he can't improve on a position, their always seems to be an excuse from either driver or team. I wonder if this is anything to do with McLaren needing to attract a new title sponsor so blame the KERS unit (not made by McLaren) and that way a potential sponsor will still think they are a good team to invest in. Just seems to be a lot of KERS related excuses from McLaren. Strange that...

Andrew if you had listened to the Pit to car radio the team did say there was a KERS related problem.

Oh, ok sorry I misunderstood
But, my point is that the KERS DID have a failure, it wasn't some made up excuse, it did actually hinder them a lot, carrying that much extra weight/balast for no advantage what so ever cost them a few tenths per lap. Plus, as Calvin has already pointed out, Lewis still managed to defend against Kimi who did have KERS so I'm sure it doesn't look that bad on the team, car or driver.

But McLaren claimed that the KERS unit was "faulty" in Singapore but there was nowt wrong with it and Hamilton still pulled away. Japan it supposedly had a problem but he was still doing good lap times. Just seems strange. McLaren say the KERS has failed but all us armchair enthusiasts have is their word for it.

All I am saying is that is this an excuse in which to blame a poor performance on so that a potential title sponsor doesn't get put off by a poor performance? Just a theory. No need to get bent out of shape Hammy fans. Jeez, I can hear the knives being sharpened.

You mean finishing 3rd is a poor performance?? :-o I don't think so! Better to have finished within the points then not at all. And Andrew don't YOU sharpen your knife where Lewis and McLaren are concerned?
