"A bad statement by Massa. He diminished himself by making it. :("

I agree! not to mention All the shady penalties that were inflicted on both Mclaren drivers during that season...
not even mentioning Spa...
Felipe needs to thank the FIA thanks to them he actualy had a shot at the 08 title.

FM has a point. He was leading the Championship and that phoney crash changed the result. We know that's true cause FA won the race from nowhere. However, LH is a worthy champ cause he did what he had to do at the time. FM knows this really. But this is what happens in a sport which more and more corrupt. Any more of these types of revelations and F1 is in the gutter

Wow, that's a shocker. Honestly I believe the 2008 rsults should have been voided. At first, I was inclined to give the title to Massa but you would have to engage in some speculation. Better to scrap the results from 2008 and declare no WDC in 2008 because of that.

Why is it a bad statement? In all honesty they should erase the whole race, the action taken by one team was of such a magnitude that it changed the outcome of the race not just for the team's other drive but for everyone else. Of course they should also erase the results of every other race that Renault was in after Singapore and move drivers up places to compensate. Whether that would make Massa or Hamilton the WDC, I don't know I haven't looked at where Fernando finished in the other races (doubt Nelson finished anywhere that would matter).

I've expressed my support for Massa on many an occasion but what he said was wrong. There is no way that Lewis should have to defend the fact that he won the WDC.
If what happened at Singapore hadn't happened then sure there might have been a different result BUT Massa wouldn't necessarily have won-the pitstop could've still gone wrong, he could have crashed, Rosberg could've overtaken, etc.
PLUS there would have been totally different approaches to the final races, both would have known that they had to do different things and that would have changed the results.

It's unfair to take the championship away from Hamilton because of something that he didn't know about. Simple as that! :p

With so much happening in retrospect of Singapore 08 there is no way you can start removing points and awarding results so long after. However I think Renault should have been disqualified from the 08 constructors championship and any revenue they gained from it given to the other teams. I know this would have probably given them an excuse to leave F1 but it would have been a fairer punishment than what they received.

I worked it out a while back and Hamilton would have won by 2 points. 102 to 104 I think :)

Seriously I think that the Hamilton 'dislikers' should get over the fact that Lewis won the championship, it's his name that's in the record books and there's nothing that can stop that now.

Lewis Hamilton is World Champion 2008! :D

Massa is right, but there's no way in hell the titles going to be handed over now.

If this had been athletics Alonso's results would have ben stripped from the table but thanks to the FIA nothing will change.

The FIA is run like some old boys rugger club where you always look after your own even if they are in the wrong.

The FIA could have done more the Renault but doing so would have made Renault leave so Massa is just going to have to accept it and not live in the past.

Typical- Ferrari mentality coming into play again, any kind of cheating-underhand dirty tactics and they are there, utilise any kind of method to achieve a result at any cost, make their drivers believe that they have been hard done by and brainwash them into this kind of nonsense- Raikonen is well out of it.
