well said robsy, i was just about to post the same reply, and thats the truth!
dc is a true welsh gent and deserves a go in another formula. when he was in mclaren he was a stuffy old so and so, but that was the fault of corporate branding at mclaren. oce he left there, he became more personable. wouldnt mind seeing him in dtm.
("true welsh gent" is a joke to the poster who signs himself as such, so dont rush to correct me!"

What's the punchline to that joke? I have never seen this "true welsh gent" poster.

"Best British etc"

Just goes to prove the old saying:
"There are lies, Damned lies, and Statistics"

How he could be considered the most successful compared to the likes of Jimmy Clark, Stewart, Hill (both), Surtees and Mansell defies belief.

But would be good to see him in sportscars - hopefully over this side of the pond.

morgan, the important word is "statisically". but dc had the benefit of a long career and a lot more races to gain points!

but he is NOT the most successful!

He has been the constant No. 2 driver. He should have been No. 1 at Williams as he was miles better than Hill and it is debatable how much better than Hakinen he was.

I would like to add that I come from a small Welsh village called Blackwood in Caerphilly in the south of Wales and am very proud to be Welsh. I take great offence at the Welsh based comments here and the term "true Welsh gent". It is very insulting.

He was an okay driver in his day but after Spa 98 he went down a lot of notches in my estimation. Especially after he revealled that he was ordered to brake and make Schumacher run up the back of his car. No worse that what Piquet did in some ways and it took him longer than 12 months to admit this. He had to write a book first! I would like to see him remain on the BBC F1 coverage but mabye doing the grid walk and some commentary during the race.

Where did you read that? Pretty sure it wasn't in his book, I'll need to have a look through it.
