i still cannot understand how he is well ahead of usf1, who have been preparing for 5 years, according to windsor, and who were given the nod 7-8 months ago. "lotus" only got the nod last month, or maybe they knew for a long time, that they would be favoured. cannot see litespeed spending millions on a pure "hope" of getting in.i also note that gascoyne has an average 2 years with a team. not very encouraging, is it? i just hope that they dont denegrate the name of lotus, like david hunt did. ( at least i think that it was david hunt)

Hmm I don't see this coming to a happy conclusion.. How they can get from cradle to grave in the tiny timescale required almost beggars belief! My worry is that it will fail and when it does there will be a "I told you so" from all those watching with inevitable long term damage to the reputation of the Lotus name. Personally I have nothing against Gascoyne, but as @richard says his reputation and time with previous teams is hardly top flight...

And....just maybe they'll do ok.

I say give them a chance, the more the merrier, don't forget everyone wrote off Honda/Brawn just before the season started, and now look they look like taking the constructors this weeekend.

Bring it on!

From my perspective, Mike talks everything up, especially the team he is contracted too. I get the feeling he is a knowledgeable man, I've heard him talk the language of someone who knows what is going on but for some reason teams let him go...often. I think he may be more the salesman who sells himself well, sets a foot in a teams door, signs a good contract but unfortunately can't deliver. If i'm right give it one and a half seasons and the exit door at the garage will once again be pushed open. We will then hear and read of Mike's pending law suit to redeem monies owed...I hope i'm wrong because he is a terribly nice and welcoming person...history shows us, he just doesn't deliver.

I think the success of Lotus depends on how they plan to do things. I think Mike Gascoyne is leading the technical effort but I don't think he is actually designing. If they are realistic then I think they'll be ok. Running it from Malaysia and employing lots of Malaysians will be death of it. They need to follow the Force India model. They are supposed to be an Indian team but they are based in the UK and employ mostly from the UK.
