I thought Kobayashi did a pretty good job considering like the other rookies, was thrown into the cockpit of a car without any testing. Kobayashi was very agressive in the race and held off Button for a good while in an inferior car. A 9th place finish starting from 11th in a last minute debut seems good to me, not to mention the solid job he did in his first ever quali session in appalling conditions.

F1 » Howett: Trulli could stay, Kobayashi was 'a bit slow' in Brazil

Kamui Kobayashi has played himself into contention for a Toyota F1 seat in 2010, acknowledges John Howett - even if the Japanese star was 'a bit slow' on his debut in Brazil - whilst Jarno Trulli could yet stay on-board too...

Well I think to describe Kamui Kobayashi as slow is just plain rude. He was quicker than Grosjean and miles quicker than Alguersuari who have all been racing for longer and I think he performed amazingly for his debut. I'd like to see John Howlett driving a Toyota F1 car and then we'd see what slow meant.

Go Kamui :p

Howett must be crazy talking about race pace for Kobashy. First race drivers this year have done horrible. At least he was in the mix first time out. Besides I don't think it will be his call to make. Toyota will do that. bye bye Jarno....

Oh, charming!
At least Kobayashi didn't cause a first corner incident then try to start a fight about it! Kamui finished the race, an achievement in itself considering that only 14 drivers managed this, drove agressively, kept the now champion behind him for a numver of laps, put in some great overtakes and generally made no mistakes. Oh, and he was fast too.
For a first ever F1 weekend, I'd say he was brilliant and I think that he has huge potential too! :p

I thought Kobayashi was bloody good!

For a rookie he certainly had some skill and I liked the banzai moment with Nakajima!

Jarno and Howett need to talk. Jarno says Howett is the only one that wants him out. And Howett saying he made cheap offer to Jarno and may be retained. Then Howett has the nerve to say Koybashy is a bit slow. I think Jarno and Howett are the ones a bit SLOW in the head. I'm sure Jarno is still a bit confused as he tried to kill himself last weekend.

hannah, i agree that koba was fast, despite what howlett says, BUT, he was also dangerous. button couldnt get past him because he kept changing lines and weaving. and, when naka eventually found the speed to overtake, kobamade at least two wild swerves to try and stop him, and finished off causing a crash. in my opinion he should have been censured over that, but fast he is, and deserves a chance.

howlett is trying to save his job and keep toyota in f1 by blaming the drivers rather than the team or car for being slow. any driver going to toyota is just after the money as they havent built a fast car yet. even when they start the season well like this year they just drift backwards. the car in front of an f1 championship wont ever be a toyota

I thought Kobayashi did ok for a rookie. Nothing special, but ok nonetheless...

For Howett to say to a young driver like that that he was slow just shows what a jackass he is though. I hope some of the guys in Japan take notice and fire this clown. He has been the Toyoda motorsport president since 2003 now and what has he achieved with all the cash that has been allocated to the F1 team?

Nothing that's what...Go away John...
