Though not a huge button fan, the man drove stellar this year. Six wins and a championship, What more could a team ask for. He deserves to make top flight pay in 2010.

Well, it didnt take long for the rumour mills to start trying to drag his team down.

Frankly, I think the make-do-and-mend nature of this season for the guys at Brawn actually contributed to their success. These guys all had to get their hands dirty, make sacrifices and really thnk about the value of everything that was happening. There is nothing quite like shared difficulty to bring a team together.

Button did take a huge pay cut and I am sure he downgraded his lifestyle (flying less expensive, etc) to remain at the team and let them keep going but how much of that is because after last year no one else would have put him in a car? Still, it seems the discontent is beyond just JB and perhaps involves more employees and that is something they should take car of quickly-- lingering bitterness will not be good for 2010 season. I think sponsorship woes "should" be over for Brawn, so paying people and retaining the WDC should be a no brainer.

Isn't it the culture of paying out huge bonuses
that got the world into it's current state.

I think since Brawn is now owned by 2 men (Brawn/Fry) and not a corporation (Honda), the staff should be
happy to be with a winning team until a more stable
environment exists.
This ain't the RBS that just give out bonuses for
attending meetings on time!

Gotta love greed don't ya........

I have had to have a pay cut, so I think that all drivers & other sportsmen should do the same during this difficult time.

Consider the second half of the season when other teams were getting on par with the Brawns, how did Button perform ? We are looking at a brand new season where no one knows how good the others are and based on Button's current performance, he isn't good enough to retain his crown next year.

Quote
"button - who allegedly had to fly on budget airlines to all the races this year and washed his own overalls in-between grands prix, expenses for which he was not allowed to claim"

I doubt that very much
He took a pay cut alright but still in the millions and how much is he worth already prior to the 09 season

Not like he was flying his own 747 every weekend to the races

where do some of these stories come from

after reading that I had visions of JB flying Ryanair and sitting by the side of a stream washing out his alpinestras overalls :o)

I dont know the details (as none of us do) but it is motorSPORT not motormakeloadsamoney

People lost there jobs to keep the team going and Button is already a Monaco native and millionare.

:?
