The saddest thing about this whole episode is that the former greatest strip of tarmac (from a bike riding perspective)in the country is now no more than a broken up, pot hole filled strip of "B" road, with no major events other than WSB booked for the future. With that in mind who is even going to put up the cash to bring the facility back up to it's sub-standard standard?!

Now stop pratting around, give it back to Silverstone where it belongs, and get on with it!

This was doomed from the start!

This has been a total farce from the word go , hopefully we can now go back to the way it was before this Gillett bloke started dreaming!

Forgot to say , in the meantime while all this has been going on they have also lost the MotoGp to Silverstone!
That will leave them with no major championship racing aside from WSBK & BSB

surprise surprise donington fail to raise the money to host F1,as the previous commet says "nobody saw that 1 coming".So in the end it has all fallen into Mr Ecclestons hands no donington means no british grand prix after 2010.We all know how much he dislikes silverstone so y doesnt he start now to make the last F1 race in the uk at said circuit, then he'll have got that monkey off his back.I just feel sorry for the fans in England, can any body see it coming back,as these new tracks appear in countrys that some how seem appealing to the F1 ringmaster

My goodness Bernies going to have a busy day today isn't he?

I agree with Dave - it's a shame we've seen wanton vandalism of a great track just because of one mans avarice and anothers chancer attitude.

That's a shame. Was hoping that Donnington could provide something new for the British GP. Does anyone else think that Silverstone is getting too 'dated' now?

It's good that this is the likely outcome as Donington would struggle to organise the proverbial you know what in the you know where!

I'm really not the sort of person that likes to knock a bloke when he's on the floor....BUT.....Simon Gillett has made a complete hash of running Donington since he took over in 2007. Facilities there (for teams and spectators) shame the British in the eyes of foreign visitors. I noticed, whilst there this year, that Gillett had posted the fastest times on the new track simulator. Perhaps, if he concentrated on running things instead of playing on big boys toys, there might be a future there!
Donington can only survive if somebody with some business acumen can take over the lease, and plough some money into improving the infrastructure of an otherwise excellent circuit.
