With the final deadline having elapsed, it looks as though Simon Gillett's dream of staging the British Grand Prix at Donington Park has bitten the dust for good - as traditional home Silverstone waits in the wings...

Now that the inevitable has happened with Donington which has had everyone focussed on, I wonder if the focus will now switch to Silverstone as to whether they will have the track modifications in place in time for MotoGP next year? Does anyone know if they've started the work yet?

Got to be Knockhill.

Done a good few laps round there in a Legend and an Aprilia RSV, fantastic fun that track :) especially Dufas Dip or whatever they call it now.

Does anyone know if Doningoton losing the MotoGP to Silverstone was connected with it taking on the F1 work, or would it have lost the contract anyway?

My biggest concern is that without a major race, the track a mess, and with debts piling up, especially when Bernie sticks in his 18m knife for breaking the contract, that Donington's owners will decide racing is too much trouble and sell the land to property developers. In this country, we don't have any room left for brand new tracks to appear, and the ones we have are gradually disappearing. Once a track is gone, it will be gone forever.

I agree with Alan D, what will happen to Donington now there is massive hole in it.

Its an amazing track and deserves to be put back together. Gillett should be shot for ruining one of the few remaining cult circuits!

This is old news ! the deadline from bernie is midnight today.
There has been no statement from donington
No statement from bernie
And no statement from silverstone
Where do you get your information from ? speculation again, once it is set in stone then i will take it as fininshed, until such time i could make up whatever storys i wanted the same as everyone else.
Wait for the FACTS first.
