The list of F1 driver salaries in 2009 - happy news if your name is Kimi Raikkonen, but perhaps less pleasant reading for newly-crowned world champion Jenson Button...

sorry but how the hell is kimi worth $37M more than hamilton and alonso? I'm no fan of alonso but at least he will do promotional work for the team and it's sponsors and we know hamilton is always prepared to put himself out doing promotional work for the team.

what does kimi do to raise the teams profile? he hates taking to the media and when he does he sends the audience to sleep! where is the logic? am I missing something?

They wanted someone to replace MS. Money is no issue so that's what THEY agreed on. Good job on Kimi's manager. He is worth his weight in GOLD. Let's see how well he does now that Ferrari money is not available. Should be a much better gauge without a ferrari bid. My guess 8 mil after getting thrown out at RED. And yes I said thrown out.

What disparity!

Kimi was useless and heads the list whilst Rubens received the equivalent of just 4% of his pay and drove Jensen to the wire in the championship.

Forget the makes of car, if KR was that good he'd have overcome some of the deficiencies. He was hugely overpaid whilst RB was massively undervalued.

Tom Rubython ....

Is that the same guy that went bankrupt twice due to libel charges going against him, and isn't allowed in the paddock any more ?

If it is, 'nuff said

If it isn't where does he get his information from ?

After reading this, my opinion of Jenson Button has decreased dramatically. He has earnt 5 times more than Rubens this year and still has the cheek to make out in the press that he's been hard done by and try to demand more money from Brawn! I was thinking he was on about $2 million, but hes on $5!!! Crikey what a whinge bag, compare him to the poor people like Sutil who have earnt nothing this year

I think that for $0 Sutil is a pretty handy driver. More than that even ... I think that a manufacturer like Mercedes would be VERY interested in bagging him cheap. I won't be surprised if he turns up driving for them. Or even Toyota with their semi-German links.
