The list of F1 driver salaries in 2009 - happy news if your name is Kimi Raikkonen, but perhaps less pleasant reading for newly-crowned world champion Jenson Button...

Kimi's my favorite driver but even I admit that he doesn't deserve that much. A world championship is great, but you just can't demand that two years later. If he's not on the grid next year it's his fault and I'll be glad he's gone because he was selfish enough to rob us of the great racing he could provide and the sport doesn't need someone like that.

Although it may appear that some drivers like Kimi do earn a lot of money, I personally would say that these guys are under-paid compared to the footballers. Yet, their job is more dangerous than the job of footballers. Nevertheless, it is a decent pay.

The overhead I can see, is that, these salaries do not last very long, i.e. when a driver change from one team to another, it is a different contract and thus a different pay package which can go up or down. I personally think they should earn more because it is a dangerous sport.

As with most high profile sports today the salaries paid are almost obscene. No sportsman is worth in excess of £5m for a job they enjoy. Even a top surgeon would not enjoy such a salary and they save lives, not risk them!

Back at the start of the year I said I wasn't surprised Brawn had signed Button only because I thought there were probably contractual obligations which would make it expensive not to employ him, but given the impoverished state of Brawn finances, I was surprised they'd signed Rubens as well. I thought they'd have gone for a cheaper up and coming driver. I didn't realise at the time how little Rubens was costing them.

09 Baragin Bucket surely Sutil, he had some strong results, and this year he's getting even better results for E200,000. Cheap I would say, especially when u look at Raikkonen getting 16 mill and not even driving in the championship!
