dunsford is not a circuit and therefore does not have a definitive layout. no one can be sure that the layout was identical to that used by top gear, so the "record" actually means nothing. if ultima are so sure of their car, why not submit it to top gear and let it be tried by the stig

Apparantly the time won't count as it was not by the official Top Gear driver. Can't find who was driving though.

The car sure is an ugly wee squirt of a thing.

Dunsford Aerodromme is the Top Gear test track. The time does not stand as it was not set by the official Top Gear driver ie, Stig.

Richard : "Having seen its bid to appear on Top Gear with its GTR720 refused"...

Why it was refused is a mystery at the moment, maybe they were too late for the season about to air?? Also the lay-out of the track is easy to get a hold of and the driver has probably watched all the TG episodes so would know the track and even they I doubt it would take long to learn.

I'm sure Clarkson and co will already be hatching plans to have the car on as soon as possible after seeing the time.

Copied fromUltima's website:

"The successful lap record attempt was independently timed, verified and recorded by Plans Motorsport using their GPS DL-1 data logging equipment. It wasn't a test conducted by Top Gear TV themselves as the producers have seemingly ignored repeated requests to feature the British Ultima GTR to date"

Their site also says that the car was completely road legal. It seems that it wasn't an official Top Gear test therefore the time does not matter (to the BBC at least).
