I would be worried if I was him, the length of the faces of the Ferrari pit wall said it all,I doubt that even the appointment of "Todt Ferrari" can weasel them way out of this situation, still, what goes round comes round and Alonso deserves everything he gets after his scurrilous behaviour at Mclaren Oh and by the way, nice one Lewis.

F1 » Alonso unconcerned by Ferrari malaise

Fernando Alonso has admitted that he is pleased that Ferrari is focusing on 2010, even if it means that late-season results do not show well for the Scuderia.

It does not look good for Ferrari next year, no matter how anybody tries to paint it. Santanders tens of millions spent to buy their countryman Alonso a top drive and it looks like in 2010 they will be behind McLaren, RBR and Brawn.

They have not been quite the dominant force they once were since the Dream Team era and I see no signs of it getting better. What fireworks could we see from a recovered Massa, more popular with the mechanics, at the moment... and a disappointed and possibly disppointing Alonso ?

Don't spoil what will happen next season ! I remember in November 2008 when all the armchair pundits clearly warned us that Button would win the WDC with his rebadged Honda...

Let's see if Alonso feels that way if/when Ferrari is behind next year... and if he's so good at car development, why has Renault been wallowing down at the bottom half of the grid since his return?!

I'm a McLaren guy, but Ferrari is going to be fine. Raikkonnen didn't have much to drive for and is prone to disappearing for stretches anyway. Fisichella has been a complete disaster. And Ferrari gave up on developing this year's car months ago. I think next year they will turn out a good car, maybe not as good as the Red Bull, but certainly something competent.

Im thinking that Ferrari giving up on developing the F60 is going to come back to haunt them next year.
The way McLaren improved gave them a chance to basically test things for next year during this seasons races.
With the limited testing it could be the difference between being competive and not at the early races next year.
Ross Brawn who knows how to win in motorsport got the team to the first race with a competitive car and built a championship on the back of that.
I dont think anyone who is a part of Ferrari next season, apart from Alonso has the winning skill, and as the driver wont be able to make enough difference to give them what they need.

I don't think one should assume that just because Ferrari didn't continue to develop F60 that they twiddled their thumbs for the last few months. They stated that they didn't persue development as some of the concepts were too different. That is not to say that some bits and pieces weren't tried on F60 in the last few races.

Besides, Honda didn't really have the opportunity to test a whole lot of stuff for BGP001 on last years car either...

At the end of the day, all of the teams have had a good chance to study each others cars this year to see what works and what doesn't, and refine their 2010 concepts accordingly. Maranello would be very busy I would imagine...

Now I'm back after a week in the real world....

I'll offer a slightly more direct hope regarding 2010 - I hope the Ferrari is a dog, simply because I don't like Alonso.

Other than that, any three teams/six drivers fighting for the championship would be nice.
