F1 » Bridgestone to quit F1

First there was Honda, then BMW - and now Bridgestone becomes the latest major manufacturer to announce its withdrawal from F1.

Who will replace Bridgestone? definitely nor Michelin who had been heavily harrased by the events in Indy... Could be Avon, Good Year?.. we'll see.

Could this see the return of Dunlop?

Or maybe the korean tyre company Hankook perhaps, with a Korean GP in the pipeline. Just a thought! :D

Think they should get onto the supplier of whatever tyre the trucks use in the middle-east. They last all of about 20 minutes and litter the roads with tonnes of debri. It would certainly spice things up a bit if cars are ducking in and out of the pits all the time for new tread :) :) :)

Just knit picking, but wasn't Bridgestone initially a rival to Goodyear, not Michelin, before Goodyear exited at the end of 1998?
Then Michelin entered in 2001...:)
Just an observation :)

With years of tyre technology learned, it'll be interesting to see which company will step up to the plate with all the major companies, all with years of tyre knowledge, by the wayside.

Return to Pirelli, perhaps? Or Dunlop? Avon?

Looking at the current forecasts for 2010 from bridgestone, no wonder thay are taking tough decisions. Instead of having their pride in front of their eyes, they are planning to quit. I admire the Japanese manufacturers plans, as they commit for another year before they withdraw, not like BMW who are Ba$$$$s in my view. Even Honda paid a fat cheque to Brawn this year to keep the company and employees afloat, even without their name in the car. Hats off to the Japanese manufacturers.
