It was the ridiculous testing ban that caused this. He has had no opportunity to practice in a car that Ferrari themselves admit is hard to drive. Fisi is a lot better than his Ferrari performances.

F1 » Fisichella regrets not having been able to 'show his worth'

A rueful Giancarlo Fisichella has acknowledged that his 'dream' move from Force India to Ferrari mid-season in F1 2009 did not allow him to 'show his worth' as he had so hoped it would.

I admire Fisi's desire as an Italian to drive for Ferrari, he has finally acheived his boy hood dream, although this may now have ruined any chance of getting another F1 drive.

I doubt V J Mallya letting him back into Force India (although he wasn't as erratic as Sutil and certainly didn't wreck so many chassis)

Only hop for Fisi now is a new team.

@ andrew mac:

You are spot on, the lack of testing has also probably ruined drivers careers as well "Grojan?" the other issue is when a team has a superior advantage "Brawn" it is hard for the others to catch up with no testing. I would like to see GP Fridays as nominated testing days, the teams are already there so thre would be no further cost's to factor in. I do hope Fisi get's another drive.

The only thing anyone should regret about in F1 is that Jean Todt was able to buy & manipulate his way to be prez of the FIA, with the help of Max & Bernie.

I don't go along with the testing ban excuse.

Clark Hill and Brabham went to Indy and ran up front and won without prior testing in a new design car in a form of motor racing they were not familiar with.

Difference - they started out in old heavy cars on dirt hence could drive anything any time rain hail or shine.

Good to see Koba is not using the testing ban excuse.

@ Fred1:
Koba is doing a sterling job isn't he, bit rude to Nakajima in Brazil but held off Jenson and raced well in the last race. Fair point he hasn't tested and is doing well, he will be in a Toyota in 2010 providing Toyota do not pull out. 12 days to go before they decide what the budgets are for the team.

the lack of testing has not spoilt anyones career. alguersari hasnt ruined his, koba has not ruined his, etc etc. but what is disappointing is to see that badoer was not given credit for his efforts. yes, the ferrari is a bad car, but when fisi could do no better than badoer, surely that puts badoer at least as good as fisi?????

Yeah, but at least Fisichella kept up with the other drivers. Badoer couldn't even do that.

As I keep saying fans should not just assume that Ferrari is magic and will always be one of the best cars on the grid.

Even Shuey stopped well short of saying on the video that Ferrari will be back srong in the new Ferrari era.
