F1 » Brawn admits rivals 'tried to unsettle' Button F1 title bid

Rival teams attempted to 'unsettle' Brawn GP star Jenson Button as he battled for 2009 F1 title glory by taking advantage of his lack of confirmed seat for 2010, Ross Brawn has contended.

Darn Politics. Just pay him a reasonable(?) salary and he will be happy. Kimi's 45m was not reasonable by anyones standards. 5-10 mill should suffice, for ANY driver!

Euhm...rival teams? What rival teams? There was only one rival for the title(s) and it was Red Bull Racing. One of the few if not the only team who actually confirmed their drivers would stay on for 2010 halfway through the season.

Sure, all the other teams are rivals, too...But it's not like they all have a motive for making Brawn loose the championship. In fact the only thing I can think of is Renault wanting to have their engine partner win but other than that...And I doubt even Renault cares that much with its own team languishing at the back it would have been tough for them to make good marketing out of winning with Red Bull.

While Ferrari continues to get involved in politics and their blame game Brawn GP is getting on with the job ahead of them.

I would think the the FIAT board would also be holding serious meetings about their race team and a certain gentleman might be told to pick Ferrari up or else.

...which is also the reason why it makes much more sense for a manufacturer to be an influential engine partner than to have your own team. For Ferrari it's different because their business IS racing (or at least a good part of it), but for regular manufacturers of Corollas and Meganes, almost nothing on an F1 chassis has anything to do with the road cars. AT least the engine is something the general public can relate to.

Also, If you provide a decent amount of funds (and engines) to a team which is therefore willing to change there name into 'williams BMW' or 'McLaren Mercedes' you have about the same marketing possibilties without all the hassle and at a fraction of the price.

No Ross, the reason Jenson had a bad second half to the season was coz he wasn't up to the task, when the other teams improved their cars, Button couldnt compete. As somone allready said, Red Bull were Brawn's only serious rivals this year and they confirmed their drivers long ago! Rival teams trying to unsettle Button? Ohh please, stop trying to make excuses for your driver being gash

Is it just me, are does anyone else think Rosberg is way over-rated ?
Not only did Rubens win this year, He was in the hunt for the title... Why would Brawn push off RB, for the unproven Rosberg?

James - you really are a grade one Walter, from all your posts it is obvious you hate Button.
However, he won the title with the MOST race wins, most points obviously and most overtakes in the race in Brazil ,when it mattered he banged a great race in.
You and Doris Knackernut ( who seems to have gone quiet the last few days ) must be very close as your hatred is very similar. :)
