F1 » Vatanen: 'Disillusioned' Renault would be 'right' to quit F1

Ari Vatanen suggests Renault would be 'right' to follow Honda, BMW and Toyota out of F1 - and says that if they do so, it will represent for the FIA 'the final alarm call that we cannot continue with business as usual'

I am pretty sure I said more or less the same thing earlier!
Things are crumbling, lets see what happens tomorrow.

Is anyone interested in Ari's views? Let's leave the poor man alone. He was destroyed in the election.

He was a very good rally driver (but not a Kankunen) and that's all. He was a total failure in the European Parliament. Ten years in the Christian Democrat group but they never gave him the smallest job. That's almost in the Toyota F1 league.

Maybe Ari and John Howett should hold a failures' convention.

So is Vatanen now going to start sulking and badmouth F1 all the time 'cos he didn't get elected? Stinks of sour grapes this. He is right to attack Mosley but it wasn't so long ago that he was chasing Mosley's support for his campaign.

Whilst I agree that the "scandles" in F1 havn't helped, the recession has played a part with car sales down and the banks not willing to lend too much.

Vatanen is still standing by what he said pre-election, the only reason he didn't win was because he was very public in his statements about the poor running and management of the FIA, and since that means he insulted the people that he needed to vote for him - he didn't win.

I still stand by his views in support. He speaks sense, so much more sense than I've heard from the FIA/FOM in all the time I've watched F1 (Around 15 years now, but admittedly, I don't remember much of the 'early' days!)

sour grapes. you make me laugh.

every one knows that the fia election was as bent as the ones in zimbabwe and afghanistan.

vatenen didn't stand a chance of winning when max the whipper and bernie ecclestone endorsed john todt

So electing the individual that worked to Max and Bernie's liking is better? And did you read Ari asked for help or did you hear it from his mouth yourself? The papers and internet will report what you want to hear. OR did you hear Todt say it?

I thought Vatanen was looking set for a job on Todt's FIA?

Seems to me he is wanting all or nothing, FIA pres or nothing at all. He would be better going for a job with Todt and working to rid the FIA of all sleaze.
