Pretty words of comfort, but at the end of the day, it's just words. We need someone to step up to the plate and make the British GP a reality. Bernie has to offer more favourable terms to what is essentially a private enterprise, It is not state funded and never will be, and thats the way it should be! Why should the british tax payers pay for it when the sport is one of the wealthiest on the planet.
Bernie, be a man and sort this mess out! :)

Britfan I gave you an "agree" but I'm not sure I agree with you that your government should not assist/encourage F1 racing in Britan .

It is a huge industry in Britain and I think the government should ensure that is stays that way and not lost to other countries - more heritage lost.

"My" government should not invest in a sport that is wealthy beyond measure. The uproar over expenses and the backlash against the banks this year just goes to show what difficult times we are in, in this country. If they invested, or if there was the merest hint of them investing in F1, then I can see lynching mobs in the street, howling for Gordon Browns head, and I would probably be one of them!

Ecclestone is an egomaniac and for the good of the sport it is about time he left. Whilst I know he is the founder, he still see's it as his toy and does not think about the sports fans, merely his "power" trip.
I still think there should be a break away and then there would be a new premier motor racing scene, and let Bernie run the lower one with all of the rubbish ideas he is now pushing just to get his own way.

Formula 1 would be nothing without Bernie. Monaco, Spa and Suzuka are far more important than the British GP

@tom
I am not saying they are MORE important, they are just as important as the other races, many of the teams are british, based in britain, techs are brits, this is their home gp, they want to be here, they can see their friends and family and show off for them and be proud of what they are acheiving, and good for them. At the end of the day, it is a british sport! It started here and belongs here! If it was a Japanese national sport, or french, or monachese then I would agree with you, but it's not, its british!

Britfan with respect British people can only go backwards with your like attitude.

Not "them (British Government" investing in F1" Brisish government should invest/encourage F1 and the jobs it generates to stay in Britian and no go offshore.

Australian Governments investst a lot into motor sport including Aust GP and Gold Coast (was) Indy week-end, Bathurst 1000 and it all about advertising Australia overseas through motor racing, tourism and jobs.

Return on investment - do the sums it works on one of the most popular big money sports in the world

We are not looking back, it is us,the supporting fans, who have built this sport.
I agree with one comment, though - F1 would be nothing without Bernie - and it would be the better for it. He is driving it like a second division. It needs rif him and it can get back on track, literally as the Premier motor sport, Perhaps we can re-brand it with all of the top teams as "P1" tm :blush:
