F1 » Piquet, di Resta and de la Rosa on Force India F1 radar

2009 incumbents Adrian Sutil and Vitantonio Liuzzi appear to be anything but secure at Force India F1 in 2010 - with 'Singapore-gate' protagonist Nelsinho Piquet and Mercedes-backed Pedro de la Rosa and Paul di Resta all understood to be similarly in the frame for the two race seats at the much-improved Silverstone-based squad

It'll be written into his contract which races he has to crash at.

He's a cheat, plain and simple and shouldn't be in the sport....and he's not that good to boot !

Still, money talks in F1.

Would like to see Paul di Resta get a F1 drive next year, I think people would be surprised at how good he is.

de la Rosa & di Resta would make a nicely balanced team.

It's only Piquet himself saying he's close to Force India. I really hope daddy's money doesn't buy him a seat there - I think better of Mallya than that, hope he doesn't disappoint me by signing the little brat and his wallet.
FI have two perfectly good drivers already, it seems Mercedes are trying to exert their influence everywhere they can with regard to driver choices. Having said that, di Resta fully deserves a chance in F1, and probably wouldn't cause as much chaos as Sutil seems to :) de la Rosa has had his day, and wasn't all that - he can't even get sponsors in his own country. Guess if you're not Alonso, the Spanish don't care about you. Sutil and di Resta for me!

Di Resta was good in F3 but then he got shoved off to DTM by Mercedes along with Jaime Green and Gary Paffet etc. They probably earn some good money there but the championship has become kind of a joke with predetermined winners. I don't know if it's good preparation for F1, at least not the other way around: people like Hakkinen, Alesi, HH Frentzen and Ralf Schuey have all struggled and only occassionally showed some skill (well, in case of Hakkinen and Alesi) despite being in the top cars.

I think Sutil is a shoe-in...good driver with cash attached and I'd like to see them keep Liuzzi, however, Liuzzi could be replaced by a driver just as capabable but with cash on the hood.

Pedro has long past his use-by date.

I don't even really understand him wanting to get a race drive anymore...He's about 40, he's not going to win a race and he already came 2nd once so what are you going to achieve, really?

re the Merc influence, I meant with de la Rosa and di Resta ,not that cheating scumbag Piquet! McLaren have had a good crop of young drivers - only Hamilton has made it to F1, the rest like Paffett, Green, di Resta all get forgotten, banished to the DTM. It was the same with all the Brits in the Honda Young Driver programme over the years - Manning, Carroll, Conway all quit as they saw there was no way they were getting a race seat. Davidson was never given a fair chance. Instead we had Sato foisted upon us. RBR's Young Driver Programme it wasn't.
