F1 » Force India F1 confirms di Resta, Hildebrand for Jerez test

DTM front-runner Paul di Resta and reigning Indy Lights Champion J.R. Hildebrand are unveiled as the two men who will try out for Force India during the special F1 young driver test at Jerez in December - with one of the pair looking to be in-line for at least a reserve role at the much-improved Silverstone-based squad in 2010

di Resta needs an F1 chance! A year as test driver for Force India next year, combined with GP2. Then a race seat at FI in 2011. Well we can hope. Come on Mercedes, the guy's been loyal - make it happen!
I thought Force India were going to run Chandhok and Jani?

Don't think Chandhok and Jani had the necessary funding ! HILDERBRAND ??? WTF?? Thats a joke...

Di-Resta understandable especially with the Mercedes connection as well but surely Chandhok or Jani could've been put into the second car given that they both would be quicker than him plus have some sort of Indian connection...Sad for the two of them unfortunately...Wish them the very best !

@ Rocco

'some sort of Indian connection'? WTF! Chandhok IS Indian, and Jani's dad is from India. Jeez. And I don't think poor Karun would be faster than di Resta at all. Jani possibly. Shame that drivers need hefty sponsorship now even to get a test!

So happy JR's getting a test! I've been watching him drive for a few years, and he certainly has the tools for the job. I hope he doesn't stay on this side of the Atlantic too long, and ruin his chances.

I am glad to see that JR Hildebrand is getting a test. He is a very likeable guy and seems to have talent. They did an interview with him before the Indy race at Infineon while flying over the county that he (and I) lives in. He pointed out a landmark, the courthouse where you go when you get a speeding ticket. I thought that was kind of funny.

VJ has gotten a lot of flack locally because of his desire to build a private "museum" in Sausalito to house his car collection. It will be closed to the public but apparently he will let some school kids visit to get his tax right off. Since JR is also from Sausalito it is nice that VJ is giving something back to the local community.

Rocco, you are living in a dream world if you think Chandhok is quicker than Di Resta. Remind me, which one of them beat Vettel (plus Nakajima, Kobayashi, Buemi & Grosjean) to the F3 Euroseries?

And I'd say it's too early for Hildebrand, but the guy definitely has potential to be the next North American in F1.

It was a huge surprise JR kept his simulator test
a secret when he was invited at Silverstone. And it
was worth it and it paid off.

If JR can impress VJ next week, then he may get a
chance to earn a superlicense. Don't have any idea
the status of "Vito" Liuzzi if he will keep his seat
as is Sutil because Force India has yet to confirm
his 2010 line up.

What was USF1 thinking?
