F1 » Renault F1 names trio for young driver test


Bertrand Baguette, Ho-Pin Tung and Lucas Di Grassi to test for the Renault F1 team at Jerez next week.

Good to see a Dutch driver added to the schedule (Ho-pin has Dutch parents, but the Chinese pasport obviously opens the door to some sponsor yuans).

Don't think he's really F1 material though...He won formula BMW Asia and German F3 years ago but didn't perform in GP2 (albeit with some crappy teams, 1st BCN and 2nd year alongside Conway at Trident).

His performance in A1 and Superformula didn't exactly signal any exceptional talent either...But Chinese roots and cash might go a long way with some of the new teams.

I'd forgotten all about Tung. What's he doing there? di Grassi is off to Manor, it will be confirmed soon. Baguette should get the third driver role I reckon. If Renault stick around. If they don't, the only French involvement in F1 will be f###ing Todt :(
