F1 » Hirvonen doubts Raikkonen would win in first year of WRC

Ford World Rally Championship star Mikko Hirvonen fears compatriot Kimi Raikkonen could be somewhat out-of-his-depth should he make the switch from F1 to compete for Citroën in the WRC in 2010...

miko is probably a bit worried! but heres a theory.

kimi wants to try rallying, so red bull have agreed to sponsor him, to see if he takes to it. should he decide after a year, that he is not cut out for it and wants to return to f1, redbull could slot him into webbers seat. atr the end of the day, a very astute move by red bull!

Hirvonen is quite right,
To think that Kimi could compete with Mikko or loeb at the top in his first year in Wrc is really a impossible dream, its as unlikely as Loeb being able to fight for F1 world Championship in his first year,
It would be interesting to see how Kimi would get on though, lets not forget how many years it took him to get his one F1 world champion Title, But all said and done i do wish him luck and hope he has a lot of fun in the wrc, if indeed he does get a drive,

Yeah, I dont think he'll be competetive either, maybe he'll beat someone like Wilson, but not the top dogs. But then again, Kimi has an exceptional talent, having only competed in ~20 car races before he got an F1 contract.

I think it's a lot easier for an F1 driver to be competitive in rally than for a rally driver to be competitive in F1.

I remember in the past Fisi was only a fraction slower than Gronholm in some rally stage with a Ford...Also Sarrazin was a formula racer and did ok in rally...then again he wasn't too good at F1 either.

I wonder what made Kimi pee his pants in this picture though...It can't be from nerves cause he's unphazed by anything, right?

Hirvonen's right - Kimi won't be winning in his first season. Though if he does well, he might think twice about coming back to F1. If he is serious about his rallying and sticks at it, Kimi could be very good. Somebody has to be able to beat Darth Loeb.

Loeb was on the pace when he tested for RBR as was Colin McRae when he had a private test with Jordan...ask Eddie Jordan yourself.

Senna was quick in a Metro 6R4 and Stefan Sarizan (iffy Spelling) was quite quick in a Tarmac spec Impreza (I think) so you just can't come out with that statement.

Ford will have a chance this year, please Raikkonen don't distroy all the Citroens. I would like more a Vettel-Raikkonen or Hamilton-Raikkonen battle in F1.
Raikkonen leave the reindeers alone!!!Go back to F1!!!
