F1 commercial rights-holder Bernie Ecclestone has revealed that he did not chase the pound signs in finally agreeing terms with Silverstone to safeguard the future of the British Grand Prix - explaining that he could have made 'an awful lot more' money by staging a race elsewhere

this is bernie trying to put a brave face on it. the truth is that both montreal and silverstone, have managed to get far better deals than they were offered. wait and see what other tracks will be looking for a reduction in costs. in the end, it can only benefit the fans.

If there were other places that were wanting to desperatly stage a GP, they would have surely been more of a cash cow for BE.

The sentimental old fart has lumbered F1 with Silverstone for 17 more years! D'OH!!!!
