They should have been booted out or been more severely punished after the Singapore shambles and they have the bloody cheek to exit the sport via the back door.

The key part "Whilst the key players at Enstone favour the Richards offer, with the highly respected, exWorld Rally Championship winning co driver boasting previous experience of successfully running an F1 team, and experience of running Renault at that, in its former guise of Benetton in 1998, the company's president Carlos Ghosn has been championing Lopez"

Why would he want Lopez ? Is Goshn hoping to sell off the Family Silver cheap to his buddy, or is it just a case of one Frenchman tickling the tummy of another Frenchman because the other, better option is English ?

Hardly the best for F1, or the people at Enstone is it ?

I believe GenII is planning to run the team as Renault F1, while Prodrive is planning to run it as Prodrive Renault F1. Pretty obvious why Ghosn wants GenII to take over instead of Prodrive. Also apparently BCE and co wants GenII to take over as well.

wims, could be some truth in that. brawn has just got permission to change to merc. "on a one-off special dispensation", so a name change probably wouldnt be allowed. but i wonder why merc was given special favours? fia afraid of them pulling out??, and honda got special permission to change to brawn. again special favours?????

I think the reason why BCE wants GenII to take over is more a function of Prodrive being granted a grid spot a few years back and not showing up than it has to do with the retention of the Renault F1 name. Maybe they dont see Prodrive as a serious competetor when it comes to F1.

Honda to Brawn to Merc name change was done on Mosleys watch.

Renault wanting to change their name is during Todts watch.

Perhaps Todt is more inclined to stick by the rules or is just more honest than Mosley?
