F1 » Schumacher and Mercedes 'agree' F1 2010 deal

The German media is reporting that Michael Schumacher - the most successful driver in F1 history - and Mercedes Grand Prix have agreed terms that will see the record-breaking seven-time world champion return to the grid 2010, in what is being described as 'one of the greatest comebacks in sports history'

As an F1 fan, this has to be fantastic news, amazing to see how many "fans" are only interested in bragging about his statistical achievements and superiority and are actually worried he will somehow tarnish his glittering crown and mess up the numbers.

Michael is a racer, I cannot wait to see him racing the 2010 Championship.

ed gorman is probably missing the bigger picture, i dont think brawn ever wanted to keep button. they hesitated on purpose so jenson went else where, allowing this deal to be possible.

similar to how mclaren messed damon about with contract talks in 97. they offered him a poor deal knowing damon could never accept it, then when he refused they just said 'oh damon is all about the money' when in reality the deal was pathetic at best.

one question tho, what happens if michael has a great year but just misses out on the title, surely he is going to want to do a second year? but they want vettel. who tho good isnt at world title level just yet.

Wonder how much influence Bernie had on this? It'll boost ticket sales no end and TV audience figures will increase. Or is it a ruse to keep F1 in the headlines during the winter?

As predicted some weeks ago, this was the long term plan by Ross Brawn.....offer little money to Jenson, make him feel not worthy of his CHAMPION position, let him jump ship, and then bring in Schumacher way later, to make it look you filled the vacant seat.

Roll on next year, I think the McLarens with top two top drivers will be hard to beat!!!
