F1 » Schumacher to be paid £20m by Mercedes in F1 2010

Having been reluctant to meet Jenson Button's pay demands for 2010 - leading to the reigning F1 World Champion jumping ship to rivals McLaren - Mercedes Grand Prix is willing to push the boat out to secure Michael Schumacher's services next season, it appears, with a reputed offer of some £20 million a year...

The worst thing about this whole story is that the otherwise laughably cretinous Eddie "Did I mention my amazing team" Jordan was right about something.....

Still, they do say a million monkeys, given typewriters, will eventually write Hamlet....

I think we all know that Schumi is going to be announced at Merc, its pretty obvious that the planning for this would have started before the last GP, possibly even before then. Ross B and Nick F and Norbert would have known, so its likely that Jenson wouldnt have had a drive at Brawn/Merc either way. So a move to McLaren doesnt look so daft now does it (or much of a suprise!!)

Old News Again.

what about news like schuey to test gp2 car at abu dhabi within the next two weeks.

or schueys doctor gives him the green light for competition.

or corrina schumacher says the family give michael there blessings to race again.

its all out there if you look for it.

even news that mercedes could ask mclaren to lend them a 2 year old mclaren car to test schuey in.

So much for cost-cutting in F1, and teams trying to save money. Here's me thinking Schumacher wants the challenge of racing the young guns in F1, seems it is all about the money after all. Mercedes are just going to throw money at it until they win the championship.

Well I was really looking forward to seeing Schuey back. But this ridiculous sort of retainer flys right in the face of what is trying to be achieved in getting F1 costs down. I think that this is going to be the biggest waste of $20 Million that Mercedes have ever spent.
