A woman in F1? Don't know. If Danica Patrick is the best they got, then i don't see it happening. Patrick has the reputation of being good on ovals, but terrible on regular tracks and street circuits.
So in Virgin's case, i would be glad with Di Grassi and Glock, instead of Patrick and Glock.

Branson manages to promote sexual equality and still sound like a sexist misogynistic tw@t in the same breath...

Just because Patrick is the most high profile female racing driver, does NOT mean she's the best out there, as the article implies Alex Tai believes. Simona de Silvestro and Ana Beatriz have shown more potential/speed at this stage in their careers. But to be ready for F1 they'd really need to prove themselves in Europe first. It'll be interesting to see how Silvestro compares against Danica if her IRL deal goes through.

As a teenager Danica Patrick raced in the UK in Formula Ford and did very well. She is a circuit racer by training, not just an oval specialist.

She is reportedly moving to NASCAR for 2011. I can only see this making sense a) she feels IRL will continue to slide in sponsorship money and prestige or b) she wants to prove that physically she can handle a car that requires more strength.

We get to watch her in the US frequently, and she is no shrinking violet. Her driving is as aggressive as any man's.

Not anti women in F1. Just not Danica, she is hopeless on proper road courses (and this against the other IRL drivers (hardly to level F1)). Her only win was purely down to a very LUCKY pit stategy and not to really driving (and it was on an OVAL).

Hence why she is looking at more of the turning left stuff with Nascar.
