F1 » Ecclestone: Briatore row 'not over by long way'.

Bernie Ecclestone has cast doubt on Flavio Briatore making a swift return to F1 - not least because he fears the row with the FIA will continue into 2010.

If Todt and the FIA persist in pursuing Flav, where does this put Ferrari after Schuey deliberately crashed on the last lap of timed training in order to stop others beating his quali time. Was Todt not in charge then, and are we saying he knew nothing about it. Or had Todt moved on by then. all the same the punishment need to be the same.!! not draconian.

Crash writes: "Sadly for a sport looking to re-establish is popularity after a string of dull seasons ..."

Er, are we talking about F1 here? There's been a couple of duff races (in Valencia!) but the last three seasons have been far from dull.

“If I was president of the FIA, I'd call Flavio and say 'let's have a chat - maybe we were a little bit over the top and sorry that you have had to take the attitude you have taken, and let's try and repair things'.”

You have got to be kidding Bernie, how are the FIA's actions a little over the top. This has to be the worst case of cheating of its type in F1 history and needs a fitting punishment. If not the FIA will be seen as it was previously - rotten to its core - and the Jean Todt new era will have lost all credibility.
Bernie leaving would also add greatly any new credibility. You are not relevant and were never credible, you are just a businessman.

What are you talking about? Michael was excluded from the driver championship because of Jerez '97. Your post infers that the FIA was never hard on Michael. Remember that he was also disqualified in 2 races in '94 and most recently in 2006 Monaco he was stripped of his quali pole position
