F1 » Angry Schumi rejects claims he doesn't race fair

He has been back in the F1 spotlight for barely a month, but already Mercedes Grand Prix 2010 signing Michael Schumacher has found himself on the receiving end of some rather uncomfortable questions...

Didn't take long for the nasty little man that Schumacher is to expose itself again. Maybe if he finally addressed all his underhand and downright dangerous tactics over the years then reporters wouldn't need to ask him these questions. Instead he continues this arrogance. Maybe if he'd had the guts to be in the same team with equal status as Alonso, Kimi, Villeneuve, Hakkinen etc then his records wouldn't be so open to question. Guaranteed he wouldn't have come back if the only seat available was beside Hamilton.

Talent aside he is an odeous, pompous character and sportsman.

Nobody has ever won a WDC or any race for that matter by being polite and hanging back. Racing is about one winner and lots of losers. Michael Schumacher is only guilty of having the greatest desire to win. ( at all costs ) :)

It doesn't take much to make someone look bad. All you have to do, is to be a nobody who interview a 7 time WDC driver, and tell the world he doesn't know how to drive. Wonder who's record speaks for itself? The guy deserves more respect.

Rob: "I am surprised no one asked him how it was going to feel driving without SPECIAL VETO power"

You've really no idea what the veto option means do you Rob? No idea, but you sure like to try stirring it up again and again.

His records would look much better had he not done his tricks in '94, '97 and Monaco Qualyfying and had capable team-mate allowed to challenge him. That's why he won't be perceived as the GREATEST OF ALL TIME, but still incredible.

Winning Machine, yes. Champion? Very flawed.

Remember the old saying: "There are lies, damned lies, and statistics - in that order"

Everyone now seems obsessed with quantity over quality. Hopefully we will have another champion this year, as with the past few years, who can succeed without overstepping the mark of clean behaviour on-track.

To be honest I was never really a Schumi fan. But what bothered me was the No.1/No.2 driver status. That's ok towards the end of the season when the math's have played their part but from race 1 of the season... It kinda cheats the fans from seeing full competition.

As for his apparent ruthless driving, well that's part of his charm. More of it I say. I want hard racing... hard racing and fair competition.

apparently the "launch" was quite an acrimonious affair, with a lot of sarcasm floating about (from both sides) and with haug having to speak "for nico" at one stage. the launch did not go as planned for merc. it does look as if things will not be totally rosy in the team this year, but i wonder who will come out on top? either schumi will claim "sore neck" half way through the season, or nico will be "rested". as i said before, it will be an INTERESTING season.
