Perhaps one of the ways to make F1 more interesting & make full use of a test driver's talent is to allow a third car to replace any car that DNF. For example, if a team has a car that crashed out or blew an engine. The test/third driver can bring out the third car by starting from the pit. That way, we'll always have a full line up of cars on the tracks.
