Genii boss Gerard Lopez says that both he and Renault F1 are in the sport for the long term following their winter tie-up.

If this is true, that's a sensible thing to do for Renault.

A cheap way to keep a 'sleeper cell' in F1 waiting for better times and at least if the team fails it's not too costly for the company.
