Sir Jackie Stewart believes that F1 will be extremely competitive this year - and that Michael Schumacher could be in for a shock.

I wish the drivers that were competing against Michael Schumacher will bring to task those people (that includes you too Stewart) that keep saying MS raced against mediocre drivers. Gee whizz Charlie it wouldn't kill you to admit that MS was/is a damn good F1 driver!

I just don't undertsnad it when people say that Schumacher has never really been tested as he never had a team mate of equal ability... Does winning the world championship in 94 & 95 with a benetton car that was inferior to the Renault Williams of Damon Hill mean nothing? Does racing against the likes of Mika Hakkinen and running him to the wire in 1998 with an inferior Ferrari just get forgotten? Saying that Michael Schumacher has never really been tested is an insult to all the other great competitors on the grid. Ferrari were top dog for a reason and it was because they had the top dog racing for them.

@Wade, Renault was not all that great it was Alonso that squeezed every second out of that car he drove give him his dues and give MS his dues as well.

So you disagree with my post above because these drivers Jacques Villeneuve, Damon Hill, Mika Hakkinen, David Coulthard, Eddie Irvine, Fernando Alonso and all the others that raced against MS, were all mediocre drivers? I've seen drivers win races with bad cars, it takes both driver and car to win races not just a good car.

I think that Yoda needs to remember that MS drove into the side of Damon Hill to win that world championship, MS is one of the greatest GP drivers ever, its just that he's a flawed sportsman.

He won back to back championships in 94 and 95. Flawed? Yawn. I think 91 race wins says it all. MS is a racer and he wants to win - sure he has made a few mistakes, but I don't hear anyone call Senna flawed despite the crazy stuff he used to get up to and he is considered by most as the greatest.

Michael Schumacher is without doubt one of the greatest ever talents in F1. He will always be considered controversial though, through his numerous un-sportsmanlike actions while behind the wheel. His talent will always outway his bad points in my opinion. Nearly all the greatest sportsmen and women have a "tough" side to their character.. it's what makes them different and usually better than their rivals. Lewis Hamilton is showing all the signs of being similar, and never forget how appalling Senna could be in ensuring a win at all costs!
