As far as I'm concerned Dieter Zetsche is talking trash, no one twisted Daimler's arms to buy Brawn's company, they wanted the Mercedes name kept in the Formula 1. As far as money goes Mercedes is not selling Hundais they are selling expensive cars and they are making loads of money and they can afford it even though they are too too stingy to admit it. It really all boils down to appearance if they are seen "wasting" money on a racing sport they might feel their workers may want or demand a raise.

Schumacher and Brawn knows what it takes to win races they don't need Zetsche biting them in the ankles.

Im sure Ross Brawn doesnt give a fig. He was out of a job then he was handed the fully funded Honda team for £1. Succesfully ran it using sponsors money for 1 year, then sold it for a personal profit of £35million pounds!. and got a job as team principle with a hefty salary and contract guaranteeing him even more millions. Would I swap places with him? you bet your life I would!

Or else what? Are Merc goning to cry? Are they going to set Johnson on Brawn so that he can be told countless facts and storys about Merc (sorry JET just yanker yer chain)? Is the world going to end?

I really wish crash would stop with these sensationalistic tabloid style headlines and just stick to facts. I mean, I've made the effort to look at the website so I'm going to have a read of each of the F1 reports anyway so why the attention grabbing headlines for psuedo-storys? I'm sure it is the same situation at the other manufacturer team, Ferrari and Renault.

@rob, no one is running mid pack nor at the top, no real testing or runs has been done yet because of the rain and your seemingly disguised tone is not fooling anyone, Brawn and Schumacher won their races fair and square because they had a better car and driver to get the job done. So Ferrari put a boat load of money to get a great car so what it's their money, here we are with Zetsche trying to chop the legs off Brawn and MS before the first race even got underway because the bozo is afraid of spending money. Where is the excitement in that if you're afraid of producing the best car you possibly can?

i think merc has a good right to be worried brawn only won the championship because of the double diffuser they had designed into their car from the start of the 2009 season and all the other major teams had to redesign/build the double diffuser into their own cars design. this took time and brawn amassed the points in the first half of 2009 once the mclaren got to mid season they started to show real pace and even won 2 races and had 4 pole to jensons 6 wins and 4 poles so yes think merc are worried at the end of the day i think it will be proven that it was better money spent by sticking with mclaren.

George Zaidan - ia gree with youre comments but not the fact that schumacher won all of his races fair and square i think if you believe that then we must have been watching different races schumacher was stripped of all his drivers points one year for taking out a competitor on the race track and there is multiple questions about his ferocity at overtaking and wheel bumping etc etc :?
