Honda, BMW, and Toyota have all fallen in the last 2 years so why should it surprise anyone that a new effort fails to make the grid? It is kind of funny that people are now championing Stefan GP. Do you not realize that would most likely be the return of Villenueve? Or is that good because he is fun to bash too? DR and Prodrive have had multiple chances already so I don't see what is so appealing about them. We have enough teams now even if some of the new teams fail.

Just think of how F1 would have died had FOTA actually broken away. Remember most of these new teams are only here as a result of that possible breakaway.

Munrow: this would have been great for the sport in America

I think an American team in F1 would be good for both the sport in America and for F1. I'd be happy to see a Penske or a Team Green. My problem with USF1 has been its name and attitude. It was going to "represent" the USA, like it would be unpatriotic to support anyone else. Who appointed them as the US representative in F1?

No experience either. If a driver with no track record tried to enter F1, he wouldn't get a super-licence. So how did USF1 get the nod ahead of Prodrive?

I think its time USF1 got kicked into touch, missing 4 races is not going to appeal to potential sponsors and the 'All American Team with the best US drivers' bull**** that they tried to con us all with!!

Stefan have the cars, drivers nearly sorted, they must have a budget so just an entry required, come on USF1 hand it over!!!

what I don't understand is why everybody is saying that this is US team. Just because PW is waiving an american flag the yanks should flock to support the team... where the heck is the love of my life - supper intelligent LoL XhX...

Why doesn't USF1 let their goose die already... For feck's sake, they stumble and fall on their faces before the doors even open, and now they want special dispensation.

USF1, you're done. Let it go. At this point, the absolute best you could hope for is MAYBE making it to pre-season testing for 2011. You've embarrassed American F1 fans, Formula 1, and yourselves. Just let it go...

Alan D - remember our discussion of baseball caps? Having baseball caps for sale to fans requires advanced planning. I wondered at the time if this were not symtomatic of a deeper failure to plan. Sometimes I hate being right.
