F1 » Stefan GP and USF1: The Legacy of Failure

One of the biggest talking points in the build-up to F1 2010 has been the failure of both USF1 and Stefan GP to join the grid. Here we take a look at the aftermath of what were perhaps ill-fated ventures right from the start...

Was not aware of the situation at Stefan GP. It sounded like they were legitemate and should have been greanted a spot without question. It sounds like Bernie and the boys actually made a good call. USF1 is a giant embarrassement to the entire U.S.A.! I can't understand how anyone can defend them. Neither one of these teams should get a second chance.

come o , crash. this is only a very small part of the story that others have been reporting over the last few days. such as the funding of stefan, the lies told by stefan over their background. the creation of a shelf company to try and give some credence to their credentials, and thats just stefan. there are stories to be told about usf1 as well, and tabout windsors history. so give us what we want. the full story!

Time to jump on yet another teams grave.
Why cant people people debate with grace rather than have the temerity to call the team principle a liar.
This is not endemic to the new teams, it happens in F1 all the time.
Force India Midland and even Campos cut corners. If you going to lambast one, you may as well lambast them all.

johnson. i suggest that you read the articles on f1technical and on pitpass, amongst others. these explain what stefan claimed, and what was actual fact. there is a very wide disparity on the two opposites. this cannot be explained as misunderstandings.you will see that i asked for the FULL story. lets hope that it will be given.

Does crash have anything else to report besides Stephan GP/USF1 News? USF1 is not an embarrassment to the United States as most people here have no idea what the hell Formula 1 is. The selection process is an embarrassment to the FIA. They started by saying only 40Million will get you a team and turn it all around and scrap the whole budget cap. What a joke! As for Crash maybe you should interview some current drivers or team managers and stop posting cheezy movies and misleading headlines!

"Crash.net has learned... that Toyota has yet to actually be paid for the chassis, allied to the discovery that the funding behind the project is far from as plentiful as had been made out, with the guarantees of government backing little more than a smokescreen"

As suspected by many of us at the time. Not that it mattered to the idiot minority on here who wanted these amateurs on the grid no matter what on the slightly rubbish grounds that it was '2 more cars'.

The clue was in the 'knocked together for a fiver' website folks, and I like the Meerkat comparison. Very apt. So hopefully good riddance to bad rubbish, and now we can go back to talking about proper Formula One teams.

This all goes back to before the Fota/Mosley war. Max foresaw teams would pull out due to the economy and then Luca and Flav hatched their plan- The non-teams are part of last years legacy but I welcome the two newcomers, hopefully HRT will make it and its interesting to have a big personality like Branson in the mix..

eff1. usf1 actually announced that they would be entering f1 BEFORE there was any suggestion of 40m. in other words, they were prepared for a much higher cost. AND they claimed to have been in planning for 5 years. the 40m suggestion would therefore have reduced the cost for them, making their potential entry, even better value. unfortunately they failed (for whatever reason ) to live up to their promises.
yes, the fia selection process stinks, but that is no excuse for being ill prepared.
