I cant help but feel FA may of been nursing his tyres a bit to help them in the race. He's a very clever driver and its the sort of thing id expect.
But that said, if he did do that I reckon Vettel and Massa caught him with his pants down hence the size of the gap.

And yes, Q1 and even Q2 are very boring now with the new teams in.

it's funny how some people who post here thinks that everything is now out in the open after qualifying.
i say, relax guys, that was just qualifying! the points are awarded AFTER the race!
a lot of things are going to change yet. ride heights are going to change when fuel is loaded. speeds are going to plummet for the start. some cars will handle better, some won't. some tires might have suffered more because of qualifying, etc.
plus, who knows, alonso, rosberg and shumi just might have planned on qualifying as they did to be on the clean side of the track for the race start... now that's smart! :)

I'm glad I've read those comments. No need for me to bother watching the next 19 races as everything's been forecast concerning the drivers competitiveness...

Actually, people who have posted their opinions about drivers' relative performances may not have been as hasty as you think. A quick look back at the opening races of previous seasons will show you quali order between team mates more often than not sets the pattern for the season.

As to what I said, I thought MS will have to 'raise his game' (which he might) and that JB will 'struggle to match' LH (but he might do it). Nothing set in stone. Except Kobayashi. Who I do admit to being a bit prejudiced aginst given the OTT praise he got for 1 good race last season :p

But come on, surely the FUN after the 1st quali is finally being able to analyse relative performances after a long winter?

same ole same ole.... because of the sh1t in-season testing ban the team that hits the ground running will take some catching. Close racing and lots of overtaking will be a dim distant memory AGAIN because of that dopey rule AND offering up more points for a position won't encourage more overtaking because the cars behind won't be able to catch them. For christs sake surely it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work that out. Drop the ban I say and lets see how quickly the teams can react :?

Yeah hat off to Vettel, as for MS after a 3 year layoff the old git only qualified 7th beating the current world champ in the process. Complete has been if you ask me. :-o

Seems to me that perhaps some folks are a bit worried about Shooey starting in the top 10. 7th is right about where he should be at this point--the first quallys in what 4 years? Alonso did suprise me a bit and good for him. Ought to be fun seeing Alonso and Shooey racing together again. Hope Hammy et/all know to stay clear of them ahould they be racing together for position. Cannot wait for this first race. See you/all tommorrow.
