A poor getaway, compounded by late-race fuel saving measures, saw Felipe Massa have to accept second best in Bahrain.

What I am assuming was the problem was the heat causing the mixture to lean out and they didn't want him to burn a hole through a piston or something. OR could be due to the fuel evaporating causing vapor lock or something. Either way it proves the cars CANNOT follow each other due to dirty air.

You hit the nail : you have to enrichten your mixture to keep your engines health.
In addition, While FA was keeping a distance and choosing a different line at the straigths to avoid Dirty Air from SV, Felipe was tracing close behind his team mate. Not very wise of him. This probably made his Ferrari waste more Fuel to keep it cool, causing fuel starving ,preventing him from a strong race end.

SaveF1 - I haven't got a facebook account but you have my support.

Massa's time will come. I feel sure that he can easily match and beat Alonso. He did match Schumacher when they were team-mates and was able to best him several times.

The fact is that FA was wise enough to save Tyres&Fuel, at a good pace, pressing 2/5sec.behind SV, to fly-shake his car over the pianos. (who knows if this was the cause of SVs failure?), waiting to get his opportunity if it ever comes = Good race management.
Massa had no brains to do the same : he was too close to FA most time, stressed his Tyres/wasted too fuel at getting dirty air. Both are really skilled drivers, but only one got the best of the same car. Guess Who?.

Andrew : if FA beat MS ,and MS beat FM. Who will prevail now?.
