Niki Lauda states that Michael Schumacher's run to sixth in Bahrain was the 'perfect performance' on his return to F1

I agree with Lauda, Schumacher is race rusty but this will not last long and the silver arrow looked good and performed well. Whether he and it can win races this year is not in doubt, so too will Rosberg.

I think Laudas comments are only fair and reflect a mature view on MS return to F1. I'm not too sure about MS being back to his old self after only a three races though, although he might prove me wrong. I, for one think, that he will need double that to be perfectly at home in his new cockpit.

yup..agree with Lauda..
Schumi will take some time to get to that high standards on his..
I expect him to beat if not match Nico in australia..
Mercedes should have a race winning car by the time the european races start..That will be the time when schumi will be back to his winning ways
anything is possible provided the cars has enough capability.

PDF - you are correct in saying that there are other drivers out there that need to get used to their new cars, tyres etc. etc.

My comment is merely in support to this threat, namely MS's return. This article was not addressing the other drivers, nor was it guestimating as to how long these would take to settle in.

Now, back to this threat, my observation still stands that, contrary to Lauda, MS will take more than 3 races to get comfortable in his cockpit. Thats all.

to cdf i feel it important to comment on the last thing u said regarding schueys lap time only being 11th fastest. I dont think we really saw the true pace of many of the cars up front due to the extreme heat, poor overtaking possibilities n the fact that engines now need 2 last. Im positive a lot of teams including merc saw that they wouldnt make up any more places by pushing hard and decided 2 save their engines in extreme heat 4 next 2 hot races. Part of reason why J.Algesuari had 2nd fastest time im sure! By the way i think this is spoiling the pinnacle of motorsport- f1 is a sprint race, not endurance!

'Only interested in the top teams' (and obviously top drivers too)! So says the man himself who had to pay for his own way in (was that bank loan really true??!!) and nearly got himself killed. He has become such a snob. His attitude is not good and he should be there for all teams and to encourage them as it was one of those that gave him his first break years ago. :D

Someone made a very good point - thanks for the tip to the website, with regards to the lap times. Interesting that Aguilary(?) had the 2nd fastest time. That must speak volumes about F1 - again a valid comment from another bloke, the supposed pinnacle of motorsport. :)

Me tinks this sport will pick up momentum... it hast to.
