F1 » Ecclestone: Hamilton is 'simply faster' than Button

Bernie Ecclestone expresses his view that Lewis Hamilton is 'quite simply faster' than McLaren-Mercedes team-mate and world championship-winning successor Jenson Button, that Ron Dennis 'belongs in F1' - and that Virgin hasn't a hope in hell of winning the title...

JB was absolutely nuts to move to Mclaren and face off with Hami just to get a few more Million £ in his bank account.
He should have stayed and hoped a combination of team orders and a superior car would see him through another season..
Jenson Button is an average driver and to put it quite simply ,not in Lewis Hamiltons league..Everyone Knew it from the onset itself that JB is going to embarrass himself ..What credibility will his World Championship hold if he gets mauled over by Hamilton, nothing in my opinion
I doubt if he will win a race this season.

I agree with Andy..JB is nothing but average..
Just waiting for all the brits(most of em who know nothing about F1) come to JBs rescue..
all this Jizzing over JB is just getting too much now..
just waiting for Hamilton to embarass him for two more races..then We ll see who is going to talk..
JB was 0.4 sec a Lap slower on average than Lewis in Bahrain..
any bets on australia?? i think 0.3-0.4 again..thats usually the difference between ok and above average

Very good Raj

Most of the brits know nothing about F1, haaa haa very good. Where are most F1 teams based?

IMO Button is smooth but lacks the control on the edge that Hamilton possesses.

Quite a reasoned opinion for a Brit methinks :-o

I could be wrong but I think there is no average driver in f1, I also think Lewis will be faster than button but it is far 2 early to tell.

@Sean-sure,most f1 teams are based in England and the general public is also quite well informed about F1 but the guys who follow JB are usually part of the new crowd .The ones who talk as if he is the be all and end all of F1 just because he is British..
the intelligent crowd in england have already buried JB.
I think you are one of them.:)

@Raj

That's a pile of b0llocks. I think button is a decent driver, he's not the outright fastest but he's quick and smooth.

I've watched F1 for over 20 years and attended races including Monza, WRC rounds, BSB rounds etc.

It's not a case of burying him, he probably won't beat Hamilton but he might win a few races.

Most new fans that know feck all about F1 support Hamilton in my experience, it's not his fault, it's just a side effect of his success and media exposure.
