McLaren-Mercedes' Australian Grand Prix-winner Jenson Button has confessed that he initially thought the early change to slick tyres that was the key to his superb Melbourne triumph had backfired spectacularly

It just proves that the driver must always make the call. Jenson took a chance and it worked for him. Lewis could have said I'm not coming in, everything is fine, but he probably thought the others would come in too, although I suspected they would just keep track position rather than risk having to charge through traffic all over again - I was right for once. A mistake by the team. That's twice in two Red Bull have thrown away a win. Could be one of those seasons for Vettel, dominatingly quick but a fragile car.

Paul agree with you on that one. If Lewis had said I'm staying out, the situation would have been different. I can't say Lewis was right to be angry however his outburst on the radio with the whole world hearing is unfortunate. No doubt the press will be more than happy to sharpen their knives in the morning.

Im not a Hamilton hater but wonder if he did not pit would he have managed his tyres to the end. when he got his new tyres he pushed as hard as he could and had the best out of them before he caught Alonso.
I guess what i am saying is that he must have took most of the life out of his first set of tyres by the time he had got up to third place, and he aint the kind of driver to settle for 3rd with 20 laps or so to go.

Well done Jenson, I love it when people make many others eat their words! :)

typical Jenson win!!right place at the right time...

all this tyre BS is overrated..Jenson did 50 laps on his softer tyres with decent pace and could have done more..
wrong call my Mclaren to bring lewis in.
he has every right to be annoyed

Daniel. If you saw the race you would have seen that Button with his "over-rated" "bs" tyre choice took a massive gamble (as was commented on at the time) to put his car that was going backwards through the standings into second place.
So yes he was in the right place at the right time but that was no fluke, more like the the choice of a champion, and yes he did do 50 laps on his bs soft tyres but he is the man who is also a master at looking after his tyres.
Button is not my favourite but comments like yours make me so annoyed that I feel its my duty to "add comment"

Right place at the right time - Yup - every race Jenson's won he seems to have been the first to cross the finish line, I think that's the way it's supposed to work.
Daniel, you do not seem to comprehend the finer points of motor racing. In order to give yourself the chance of winning you have to put yourself in the right place at the right time, which is what Jenson did by being the first to pit for dry tyres. He showed belief in himself and his ability and made a concious decision to pit early and that is what put him in the right place when the time came.
one day you will understand all this daniel.
