Lewis Hamilton proves untouchable on the opening day of practice for the 2010 Malaysian Grand Prix in Sepang - as the 2008 F1 World Champion winds up almost three tenths clear of the chasing pack

lewis is not untouchable, vettel just has his foot of the gas, vettel for pole, hamilton for the win. time the new teams were kicked of for being to slow or allow them to do some testing, they just get in the way

It is the wing of Mclaren that is keeping them there, all more corner-tracks(like Monaco and others) Mclarens will go good at but more straight-tracks(like belgium) they will be equal to others, unfair i think, like the diffuser last year, ironic that it goes in the same persons favour

Good Start for Hamilton and Mclaren altough it is only practice dont think they are quick enough for a win unless something happens
The new teams are getting better espoeaially Lotus between one and two seconds off the midfield pace not bad going considering 6 months ago they didnt exist

@adehwood
why should the new teams be kicked out they are not that slow as i said they are only about 2 seocbds of the midfield and the considering the midfield teams are about two seconds off the pace of the top teams should they be kicked out for being to slow

i thick the new teams are doing really well and it wont be long before they are in the midfield

@mario

Why is McLaren wing unfair?

Just because someone was smart to think of something no else did, that is within regulations? You can just go and ban everything that gives a team an advnatage if it's within the rules. Thats the whole point of designing your own car, to build a better one that everyone else.

Otherwise you may as well make F1 a spec series.

if you apply the 107% rule here only the HRTs are outside, at that chadhook is only .25 off. so stop complaining that they are too slow! to be where they are in the time (and problems) they have had they did a great job.
although i do agree hrt needs testing time. i feel there should be a minimum amout of miles covered (to be done at any time) before you can enter a race

Even though we still have Monza, I wish we still had a couple more tracks with those looong straights in F1, like the Brickyard and the old Hockenheim. It may seem boring to some, but the screaming sound and flat-out speed of an F1 car for over 20-something seconds flat was...awesome! :)

Once again some people get really excited about practice times. Tomorrow will be a differen day and we will see differnt order:
Vettel
Ferdi
Button
Kubica
Roseberg
Kubica
Schumi

@50c you are like the folks who are in denial over climate change and Obama etc: pretending these phenomena dont exist, doesnt change the facts. Lewis Hamilton is very much here, so ignoring him from your line up shows either seriously flawed judgement or serious bigotry. This omission renders your list (you say order)worthless as it's obviously ill-conceived and so, spurious.

And if practice is pointless and people should not get excited by these performances, why do the drivers try so hard to improve, like Vettel did, moving to P2 by the end?
