F1 » Alonso: Here we gave RBR a gift, next time we will challenge

Fernando Alonso: At least the engine failure only cost me two points: it would have been much worse if I had been in the lead!

Im thinking that these comments were directed at the people of Italy and not the rest of the world. Its the only way I can explain them! Transmission was junk from the start and he blew his engine. Hmmm, looks like Red Bull direct mailed the gremlins they had all the way to Italy! Good luck.

I think that no one can match Fernando when everything goes right in his race car, figure you ,Button the worst world champion in the last decade. The championship is in his hands and to the Scuderia, and I am sorry for McLaren. I really wished that this team would win the 2010 F1 constructors championship but their drivers are so far behind to the great Alonso.

alonso trying to play the team game calling it a little gift, behind closed doors ferrari know that a 37 point swing to red bull isnt the sort of gift they can afford to hand out too many times. the engine failure just compounded the mistake made by the team yesterday.

Right, gearbox jammed and fried clutch. And yet, miraculously, he still managed to reel in Massa at the tune of 1 or 2 seconds a lap until Massa finally found a way past Button and he couldn't, and also pulled a few very fast laps in the last 3rd of the race, including setting the fastest lap 2 or 3 laps after pitting. Very belieavable.

This guys excuses are un-s.odding-belieavable. When he doesn't win, there's always something wrong with his car, his team, his team mate, the weather, the cosmic alignment.

Sure alonso will try to win championship. The only problem is,given equal cars he is not fastest guy.I think that Vettel and Hamilton have different ideas to those of alonso, and it will be very hard for him. Those guys are just to fast for him.

rerew, maybe you should watch the race again. Whenever the coverage was on board with Alonso you could hear that the car was not downshifting properly. (Even Brundle commented on this & praised him for driving round the problem.) So his explanation seems plausible.

Rerew did you not see the part where Alonso's grenaded itself at the end of the race? I don't think a massive mechanical failure qualifies as an "excuse" does it?

How many engines has Ferrari now used for Alonso's Ferrari? If I recall correctly, they already changed the first one at the first race. And now this one is blown up. So in the fourth race they are already using number three....
