Will be interesting over the next few weeks, the powers that be at tyre companies will be asking what do we get out of it as we have to pay for the whole supply....

Currently, not a lot other than we supply F1, wooppeee do, how much is that really worth when there is no competition?

A tyre war is not what the fans want - who wants to watch a race when you know the week before that tyre "a" will outperform tyre "b" on a certain track before the trucks even arrive? F1 needs to make the playing field as level as possible not go back to a series with "haves" and "have nots". Despite all the difficilties, recent moves have brought parity closer - they need to keep going in this direction.

i understand Bernie's having this reccering nightmare at the moment all the tyre companies keep saying to him we will only play with you on' our' terms not yours, then he wakes up and realizes it's not a dream.

pc. i believe the deal with avon, that bernie is brokering, is for a lump sum to be paid by f1, to avon, who will then give the teams, a tyre for free. its not really free, just a redistribution of money. avon wouldnt be a bad choice, as they have plenty of experience supplying 13" slicks. in fact, f1 teams use these on two year old cars, for testing purposes

@black and round - I completely disagree with you - when the michelin/bridgestone wars were in full swing it produced some of the closest and most exciting races in years. (04/05/06 to be precise)
